Yes. Exactly. Wherever you have the appropriate verizon service, you can connect without paying for a wired or wifi connection. That's the point of having that broadband card and paying for the monthly service. You're not a slave to wired or wifi wireless networks anymore.
There should be a map of where the service exists (and some locations may offer faster data service than others) somewhere on the verizon website. Ideally, you'll have data service in any metropolitan area where your verizon phone has service from verizon.
Wired or wifi connections may be faster than your verizon broadband access, but in most cases, it's probably good enough.
Personally, I don't use verizon (or GSM) broadband service, but there are plenty of people here that do, in case you have any other questions.
