Yes, I received the same letter and was glad I read the fine print that I'd have to "opt out" if I didn't want to switch. I went ballistic, called them, chewed them out for trying to make this an "automatic bait and switch", and threatened to cancel the card IF it was switched!
They backpedaled in a hurry and assured me that no switch would be made. We travel out of the country a lot and what CitiBank may not realize is that Amex is worthless in some countries (because they charge the venders such high fees) and the only card accepted is Visa.
Oddly enough, hubby applied for a Visa Business card and now gets double miles for each ticket booked on AA. What a deal.
I don't get it... Citibank promotes Visa with this hand... then promotes the dreaded Amex card with the other.
Can you tell we cancelled all our Amex cards years ago?
