Good advice. I was previously told by a helpful lady on the BA Gold phone line that the airport ticket desk staff have much more power to override the normal restrictions than those you speak to on the phone (although before people get too many ideas in their head, this is obviously only done when circumstances demand). This encouraged me to just head to the airport and see what they could do for me. It worked!
