Yes, call the US Elite Line: [edited to remove Elite number]. If you live in Japan, you know it's only about 10 cents a minute to call home--or less! You will get a seat: no problem. Your WP number may not even be entered in the reservation--but once it is, there's nothing to stop you from getting one of those front Elite seats. Enjoy!
When I lived in Asia (Beijing and Japan), I often used the US Elite line--not because of language difficulties, but mostly because there really isn't the same level of service in the NW Asian phone centers: At the US Elite line, they'll do just about anything--book award tickets, change seats, and also break (small) rules to make you happy.
And when you look carefully, the Elite line in Tokyo is actualy just their old direct (non-toll-free) telephone number for World Perks--it didn't used to really be an Elite line, I think they kinda just call it that now. Correct me if I 'm wrong, anyone, since I haven't lived there in 2 years......
In fact, no Asian city even has a dedicated Elite line other than Tokyo......try getting through to the BKK or MNL office on a busy day!
