I'm not even flying these days, but I do spend every week in a hotel.
This is a busy season -- I've got to the end of May to get in the stays for the Marriott Megabonus (I'm plat w/MR). My day-to-day hotel is a Quality Inn (I'm Diamond w/Choice) and they're currently running a triple points promo. Whew! No hotel-hopping necessary.
But then Northwest started their "Perkology" promo (the guy in marketing who came up with that name ought to be fired

). 1000 miles/hotel transfer. Now Choice is also tripling the mileage, but it's
per stay! Bummer. This means if I want to maximize my miles, I'm back to hotel-hopping. The Choice promo ends April 30, and I could really use another 24K NW miles to get two WBC seats.
People ask me, "What do you all those nights in a hotel?" The answer is (when I'm not weeping or brooding or drinking ... or all three), I dig out my calendar and spreadsheets and try to get the most bang for the buck.
Oh yeah ... I'm also a Diamond with Hilton (already got my re-qualifying stay out of the way), but if
they start a promo at the same time, I think my head will explode.
