Union Leader Thinks UA Mechs Will Reject Contract

``My sentiment tells me they will reject it,'', said Tom Buffenbarger, president of UA's mechanic union:

Amazing.... 37 percent pay raises less than a year after the worst ever year for the industry, and thats not good enough.

Don't cry me a river about the fact that they haven't gotten raises since 1994. They negotiated away the raises in exchange for shares of the company. Sounds to me like they have a genuine catch-22. If they accept this contract, the shares will take a hit. If they strike, there's a good chance the company could file chapter 11, making the shares next to worthless.

Hard to believe the mindset, tho....

Anyone else think the union president's statement was an attempt to send a covert message to members and instruct them on their vote?
