If you're planning on using a scooter, please please be careful. Whilst driving in Thailand is...exciting...at the best of times, the roads around Phuket are widely known as the most dangerous in the land.
If you're going to be there over Songkran (the weekend around April 12th), it will be doubly so as the roads will be plastered with a very slippery combination of paste and water.
