The cathedral at Salisbury is outstanding, has one of the I believe 4 copies of the Magna Carta. Stonehenge is very close to Salisbury.
Stratford upon Avon is also a great day trip. Another good one is Woodstock and Blenheim Castle (Birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill)
