If I were you, I'd call another EXP agent immediately, and kindly tell them you think the previous agent may have been confused, then ask them to reinstate your original routing. Nothing was "illegal" about your trips as booked - I'd keep calling back until you get a sympathetic agent willing to work through the hassles of getting your original fare and (possibly) VIP honored.
