What you could probably do if your original reservation was far in future is call the reservations desk with the cancellation number, ask them reactivate it by adding a room reservation to it (which will make it active again with the original confirmation number). Make the room reservation for sometime in the next few days. Cancel it, then it will be gone after the few days passes. Not sure if it will work, but maybe worth a shot.
Is that big a deal to have a few cancelled reservations at the bottom of the page???
I simply do not bother looking there anymore.
