I have since confirmed that a stopover is not allowed on domestic itins in the lower 48.

I have a follow-on question. Would a SJC-ORD (-BOS) -SFO be considered a double open jaw?

i.e I'd do an award that's SJC-ORD, BOS-SFO and pay for a one-way ORD-BOS. This allows me to take a later flight ORD-BOS giving me the 6 hrs family needs in ORD.

Is this a double open -jaw? Permitted under the "rules"?
