I've been to Roxy twice and I don't understand all the fuss is about, at least for non-NYC residents. It's exactly the same music and crowd as half of the gay clubs in SF, LA, Chicago and other large cities. If you live in NYC and like formulaic gay dance music (insert diva singing about "flying high way up to the sky" or being "free" here), it's a great place to go. But there's nothing uniquely NYC about the place, and I don't travel to new places to go to a clone of the same gay club I've been to 1000's of times. My suggestion is to just avoid it.
