Premium Economy seats are similar to typical AA domestic first class seats, but the arm rests between seats are much narrower in Premium Economy which means reduced shoulder room. If you have flown AA domestic first class on a 767-300 (763) you have essentially experienced the international business class seat. The 777 version is wider and may not recline quite as much as the 767 version, but either seat is substantially better for sleeping than any Premium Economy seat.

On the other hand, if you can buy a Premium Economy fare on VS and use miles to upgrade to Upper Class you will be loathe to ever fly AA Business class again.
