Laptop power

I usually find myself in WT+ or NCW and both have laptop power supplies. I have never found the need to use my laptop on a flight, as I enjoy the watching a movie and getting bladdered before sleeping method to my liking. I have read that when NGCW is installed that the power adaptors required will be different to the current Club world adaptors. Is this correct? Does that mean that when the refit is done, if I buy the new adaptor and then a month later I am in WT+ it will not fit, or will they change the socket in WT+ as well? I need to buy an adaptor for my next long haul in F to SYD and would like advice/suggestions on what to buy and where to get it.

On a separate note. On the very rare occasion I have had to travel with a laptop, I have always kept it with me or left it with a friend. On my next 2 trips abroad which include SYD, I will have a lot of leisure time. With this in mind I presume I am stuck with leaving the laptop in my hotel room. I am not so worried about the machine as the information on it, as the machine is insured. I am staying at Hiltons, Intercontinental and raddison hotels. I just wondered what others do or if anyone had any suggestions such as leave in a secure room at the hotel if such a thing exists.

Thanks
