I'm staying at the Grand Hyatt Taipei, and in my room have memos from the GM that Club Oasis (the gym) is currently closed. A friend of mine who stays here regularly told me the reason it's closed is that there was a fire in the hotel. The elevators and hallway (at least on my floor) do smell a bit smoky--I initally chalked it up to the natural smell of all the wooden panels, but it very well could be smoke (I didn't recall such a strong scent last time I stayed here).

Anyone have more information on what happened and when?
