What recent posts do not reflect is that the exploitation of these loopholes NEEDS the community. FT may have killed it, but FT also created it.
What am I trying to say? What I mean is that it is the COLLECTIVE knowledge of people on here who help us COLLECTIVELY work out how to exploit these loopholes. 5EF set the ball rolling by spotting the deal and posting it here - if he hadn't, it may NEVER have made it to the BA board. I did my bit by running the numbers and writing an idiots guide to making it work. Other people who understand the Marriott scheme flagged up the benefit of the travel packages - neither myself not 5EF would ever have figured that out. Other people who got in quickly helped build up data on how quickly points posted and got transferred.
It is unlikely that ANY of us, myself included, would have - without the info of others - been in a position to take advantage of this deal. As with all of these loopholes, it is necessary to share knowledge in order to know exactly what should be done.
Unfortunately, these type of actions collectively sow the seeds of its own destruction. More people feed in data, more people find out about the deal and it moves ever closer to getting pulled. That is the nature of life, though.
The Amex TCC promo went exactly the same way. Individually, none of us would EVER have found about it or realised how big the opportunity was. There is always a short window available between the community working out how to 'play the game' and the game getting stopped. It has always been thus, and always will be.
