The thing you'll hear a lot from FT members is.. if you don't get the answer you want from one CSR.. hang up and call again... repeat until someone gives you what you want.
I had a long conversation with the Earthlink folks at a Atlanta Thrasher's game and was able to get the deal with no activation. So my guess this wasn't false advertising but a untrained CSR.
Yeah, this does classify as a rant. I couldn't find a better forum for this on here, it is Delta skymiles related. 25,000 miles would be awesome, but the Earthlink folks are morons. I just spoke with another guy on the phone, he started asking all kinds of questions about how much I was online and what was my cell phone carrier.
I'm like "look, I am only asking about the TrueVoice service, please don't try to sell me anything else." He supposedly went and asked his manager about waiving off the activation, 5 minutes on hold with dead silence and he came back with a "no". I can only imagine how terrible the service would be.
I'm gonna see if Vonage has any skymiles deals.
