your best shot is to try to exchange it for a new reservation at an AA ticket office or airport. chances are the agent wont because the ticket is so old but in the past I have been able to use tickets over a year old on both AA and UA. I dont know if an exception was applied but it worked for me. you dont have anything to lose by trying.
