A "U" at the end of your FF number is a designator that some portion of your itinerary is upgraded...it will prohibit you from receiving a class of service bonus, if applicable. The most common use of this is on a mileage upgrade (itin booked F but should only accrue Y mileage).

Other designators are "X" - indicating you are booked on a non-qualifying fare for mileage accrual (common with the miles + cash fares) and "T" which indicates you are traveling on a award ticket and no mileage will accrue (should only be used with "RuleBuster" awards).

Bottom line: nothing to worry about...nothing wrong with your FF number. The system will recognize an invalid number upon entry and will not accept it, it will not, however, recognize a number entered does not belong to the person booked in the record but will not post mileage to the account if there is a name mismatch.
