I have two BPs, one for Y and one for J - both say I can take "1 bag+laptop/briefcase". The post you refer to says the correct amount is "2 bags+laptop/briefcase" whereas clearly the correct amount here is "1 bag".

Obviously I am aware of the correct situation, however I wonder how many ex-LHR pax believe what BA print on the BP (and why on earth shouldn't they believe that) and then get hassled at security? If I have it in black & white from BA on my BP, then it seems reasonable that I should believe that.

Last month, my BPs just said "please check ba.com" under then handbaggage section.

As for your previous worry about me holding things up, in practice that won't happen, but I thank you for your concern However as I am required to take out my laptop from my laptop bag, I will need to do this anyway. Whether I remove the laptop bag from my overnight bag before the goon sees me do it is another issue, or whether I do it in front of him so he can see that I really am contained in one bag is the issue here.

And in any case, both bags are likely to be stuffed with cables & electronic bits, so no doubt if they do require me to put the laptop bag back into the overnight bag for X-ray, once they see what's inside they'll probably want a secondary search or something anyway
