Of course, that may depend on the CSR. Last November, I was scheduled for OAK-LAX-JFK (RJ and p.s., respectively) with a sponsored CR-1 for the p.s. segment. Flow control in LAX caused my OAK-LAX RJ to be cancelled and during my phone rally with CSR, the agent was willing to rebook me on SFO-JFK and apply the CR-1 without mentioning any re-sponsorship. (Unfortunately, there was no confirmed upgrade space available on SFO-JFK so I instead switched it to SFO-LAX-JFK, thereby extending the sponsored CR-1 to also gain a confirmed upgrade on the SFO-LAX leg... worked out for the best, methinks.

Long story short (too late!), it seems that it depends on your CSR whether they will re-apply the sponsored CR-1 to your new flight or require you to get re-sponsored.
