Correct. The Court would not award you a sum for the hassle. In small claims you get your issue fee and (I think) travel expenses.

You had a good result. Your experience, I would say, was not typical. What people are describing on this board - fob off letters, failure to deal with points etc. - is the typical response.

In the end it is about time and control. Take it through a complaints procedure - particularly the Ombudsman or the FSA and you can virtually guarantee it will take somewhere near 6 months to sort out and even then you have no guarantee that they will award you compensation at the end.

Commence small claims proceedings and you'll be all done in under 3 months. You don't have to keep writing letters. You just issue and wait.
