When I went from Blue to Silver (in the days when the Wright Brothers were still flying), it happened automatically within 1 week; when I finally graduated to Gold last year, what with service oriented architecture, customer centric systems and 24/7 availability, I had to call BA myself after 3 months of waiting and they manually sent it.
