WorldPerks v. Flying Dutchman

I was following the conversation on the post about FD from the US. I split my time between Europe and US, have addresses in both places, and am WP Gold/Platimum depending on the year. Most of my flying is international, Bos-Ams etc. and the very good NW domestic upgrades don't do me any good. I am totally frustrated with the difficulty of upgrading on transatlantic flights; I currently have a number of trips hanging and call every day and every day told that there is nothing, there is no way to get in the line, just keep trying etc. Would it make sense for me to somehow use my European address to join Flying Dutchman and then have a better chance on transatlantic upgrades. How does the KLM system work, can you get on a waiting list, etc. I had never thought of this as I am so put off by the snotty and unfriendly attitude of the KLM lounge people in Ams lounges but it might be something to consider. Would the KLM miles count toward NW status, are the KLM levels for elite treatment higher. There is probably a thread with this somewhere but I am not aware of it. Any help much appreciated.

PS I have about 700K accumulated on NW. Is possible to transfer that? Can I get business class checkin, security lines, on NW flights etc which I have with NW if the elite is KLM?

As I think about it, I am getting the feeling I should stay where I am but would appreciate advice

Thanks in advance for any info.

Joe
