Just wondering if anyone knows if Hilton does any type of QoS/bandwidth limiting? I'm on a long term stay at a HGI and they upgraded the network a month or so ago. Prior to the change it was just an open access point with no authentication, wireless coverage was spotty (so much so I started using my own wireless router) but during non-peak hours I could get >100kB/s on downloads. After the upgrade the wireless coverage is much better (yeah!), authentication is required (doesn't bother me) but try as I might (and believe me I try) I can't get more than 30kB/s even during off hours. Technically speaking I know it's very easy to limit the throughput per MAC address but I wasn't aware that Hilton was actually doing this.
Did the required search before posting, only related thread I found was
h which doesn't specify the hotel chain.
