Oh, I forgot to add yesterday this:

I remember that in their last days, BRANIFF
flew BOS to LGW,AMS,BRU,ORY. Hilarious.
so I asked around at the WC about this.
One of the more knowlegable staff confirmed
that NWA did indeed aquire the route authorites from BI when they liquidated
( in 1981/3 ???).

From BOS, Northwest Orient had nonstop service at various times to London (Gatwick), Shannon and Glasgow. They never did fly, however, to Paris (Orly), Brussels or Amsterdam until after the merger with Republic and then, from BOS, they only flew to AMS after their agreement with KLM. Their first entry into Paris was to CDG from DTW. They've never flown to BRU. Northwest Orient at various times, flew to Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Hamburg, London, Glasgow and Shannon from New York (JFK), Minneapolis and Boston. They even flew a Miami to Copenhagen nonstop for a while.
