I posted a similar response a couple of weeks ago on this topic. The most significant benefit I've observed as a Plat vs. Gold are occasional operational upgrades on trans-atlantics. I didn't get any of those as a Gold.

Would I spend $800 of my own money (and the time) to jump from Gold to Plat? No way, I don't think Plat is THAT much better.
