Generally agree. Little or no problem with booking availabilities of flights I wanted even hours before departure. And would certainly consider it again, albeit within the same pricing range. However, do miss collecting the actual mileage!
YYZ-YUL-YYZ (2); YYZ-YOW-YYZ (2); YYZ-DCA-YYZ (2); YYZ-LGA-YYZ; YYZ-YVR-YCD/YYJ-YVR-YYZ; YYZ-LAX-YYZ; YYZ-SFO-YYZ; YYZ-YYC-YEG-YYZ = 26 flight segments at $800 = $31 a segment or an average of $67 a return trip (hardly covered my bar bill at the MLL!) Would have had another YYZ-LAX-YYZ but flight was cancelled due to weather an hour prior to departure and had to cancel one booked trip due to illness (added another $80+ GST). Final segment tonight for my return from Edmonton.
Had one op/up on a nice A330 between YYZ-YVR (lots of Es flying, as well as SEs so suspect majority of opups on full flights went to SEs) and used one upgrade cert on the red-eye back from SFO (no problem confirming I). Also had no problems with US Immigration when I told the agent I was coming back the same day, not doing business, and listed a museum or art gallery as my "US address". However, on the last trip down there the agent found my passport odd as he'd never seen a 48-page Canadian one before and was convinced it wasn't real...spent quite a bit of time checking the binding and pages! Finally he accepted it, stamped it and didn't baulk when I said I was just headed to SFO for the day...
Since I would have taken two transcon business trips in T+ over the past two months at a cost of about $650 each all-in, the savings there was an immediate $500. And since I couldn't get away for a longer winter vacation this year given project schedule, was able to clear Tuesdays and Saturdays for some nice day-outings...thus saving even more $s.
Curious how many of these AC managed to sell. Given record loads for January and February could have been a lot, though I only came across a couple of others who were traveling on these passes.
