To verify that the handheld's software has been updated or to install the patch:
On the handheld, open the BlackBerry Browser or Internet Browser application.
Open the browser's menu, choose "Go To…", type
www.blackberry.com/dst2007 and press Enter. RIM's DST 2007 homepage will open, then a few seconds later it will automatically change to the DST software patch download page.
Click the DOWNLOAD link.
The page that appears will display the name and version of the patch (net_rim_bb_timezoneotapatcher, version 2.3).
Click the DOWNLOAD link to begin the verification/update process.
If the software patch is already present, the install response will say that the application already exists and ask if it should replace it. In that prompt it will also display the patch version that was detected. If the software patch versions are the same (version 2.3), the handheld has already been patched and there's no need to proceed. If the software update versions are different (version 1.5 or 2.2 instead of version 2.3) the handheld has been patched, but a later version (2.3) of the software update is available, so choose YES to proceed with the update.
If prompted to reboot, please do so. Note that depending on the handheld, the reboot can take as long as 15 minutes. After the software patch is installed it will place an entry on the handheld, under Options, called 2007 DST Patch. Highlighting the 2007 DST Patch entry and pressing Enter will provide details of the patch status.
