While a CO DC-10 on this route may have been realistic, always keep in mind that most films don't generally pay a great deal of attention to realistic airline ops when such a scene is called for. I'm sure you're aware of that though. I remember noticing in the film "Tommy Boy" that when they board it's shown as a 747, then inflight the cabin is that of a narrowbody, then the landing shot depicts something else entirely. Or something to that effect. Anyway they switched airplanes at least three times in five minutes. Even the film "Catch Me As You Can," which did a really good job with aircraft depicted for the most part, made one slip-up. They show an engine shot, IIRC, and it's clearly that of a modern aircraft, impossible for the film's timeframe....I seem to recall it was an A330 shown. Anyway, just a fairly useless tangent for you.
