I am EXP (> 100,000 miles) with AA. Next year I may be flying enough to qualify for 50-K on another airline and am thinking about NW.
AA gives 100% elite-qualifying miles on all tickets, including discounted fares.
I see that NW gives unlimited confirmed upgrades. How often does this happen? Infreqently with silver? As EXP, I almost always get upgrades (with electronic stickers). Also note that they code-share with CO on many flights from MIA. Is this good to fly with regard to elite benefits? Do miles flown on CO count toward NW status? I do some flying to Europe and South Pacific, so NW would be good.
Also, how good are their RTW fares?
In general, I am very happy with AA's program. We get system-wide upgrades good on ALL fares, and electronic upgrades for domestic flights. And miles/points credit toward most flights at 100%.
Thanks guys.

To upgrade international fares you need to use miles and buy certain fares. The unlimited upgrades are true. I am silver and batting %1000 for the year. Knock on wood. That depends on where you fly from. You said you would fly 50k more so you would make gold and even better chance than me for UG. The unlimited ug are for domestic only. Miles on CO do count now in 2003. In 2004 Co is going the route of DL and 50%eqm for low fares. NW has not made any announcement on what they will do concerning that and I am still unclear about the earning FF with NW on CO flights in 2004. Hope that helps.
