By all means, this is typical AC's service schedule. But it is nowhere comparable to Singapore Airlines....
You and I must be traveling in different circles. I've never had the FA's disappear for 1.5-2 hours before coming back to complete the service?? I regularly fly longhaul domestic and international going East, West and South and most service is quick, attentive and cordial. You get the odd crew that is shopped out or partied out from a layover, but it is the exception rather than the rule. In those cases the goal seems to feed the fares ASAP so they can go hide and recover!
As for the myth of SQ, I find the service a little over the top sometimes. Personally I wold prefer to be just left alone! Now meals....... that's another story entirely.

For AC, it is of course a typical North American standard: even if you are a senior, hard to expect any AC flight attendant to help you with luggages. On virtually every flight I've been on the FA's are playing luggage handler trying to cram the crap people haul on board into bins that were designed for briefcases. If I were cabin crew, I'd be telling people that the 2 live goats and the anvil they got past security would have to be checked.....
