Just think of how much weight Qantas are saving by not using steel knives for 800 meal servings of a typical trans-Pacific flight! Must be a saving of well over 100Kg.
And I wonder how the cost of disposable plastic knives compares with cleaning and reusing steel ones?
Hmmm...good point, though one must think about the corporate responsibility (or irresponsibility?) in creating more landfill due to use of plastic ware. (On the other hand, imagine the chemicals used to clean the steel ones. Balances out?)
