I remember one such occurrence very well. 'Twas on a QF flight AKL-SYD ~2 years ago. An emirates 777 to SYD had gone U/S at AKL and the meals originally for the EK flight were used on the QF flight; I was in J.
The FA's were just as surprised as the PAX at the quality of the meals.

They were quite large as well.
