I found just the oppostite. My red-eye's from SFO/LAX/SEA have been pretty empty on NW and usually I can snag a whole row of coach seats to veg out and sleep. On the other hand CO flights are usually pretty full. This past summer I even got bumped on a red-eye from SEA to IAH.

So I guess timing is everything
