At Hermès, say the following, in any language: "I would like to buy three Birkin bags."
At Louis Vuitton, immediately head for the
steamship trunks and tell them you need one for you and another one for your spouse.
There are certain things that can overcome bad dress, style, attitude etc. on both sides, i.e.
$, €, ¥, SFR, etc., all in very large quantities, of course.

LOL!!!
Actually, that's not
quite true all the time.
Louis Vuitton limits the number of bags one can buy because there's a problem of the Asian tourists buying so many. I never go to the LV store on the Champs because I avoid that area, but my friend (a parisian) and I were there one day last year and an asian girl comes up to us and asks us if we'll go into LV and buy her a few bags because she's bought up her limit. She said she would pay us for our services. We weren't interested so we didn't bother to ask how much. I know that LV is concerned that they are being taken apart by asian factories and copied. My friend is a patent attorney and I'm so anti-knockoff I'd arrest every street vendor if I could, so she was REALLY asking the wrong people! LOL!!!
Additionally, last year it seems that Oprah was in Paris and wanted to go shopping at Hermes and went to the store at closing time and they wouldn't open up for her.
I kind of like a society where money isn't the be-all end-all and like anyone else Oprah was free to go back the next day during regular store hours.
But gee, I'd love to walk into Hermes and say "I'll take 3 Birkin bags s'il vous plais" ^
