$400 CS voucher for broken power port? Wow

I was recently flying LHR-IAD in NC and I had a broken empower port. I asked the FA about it, wondering if anyone else had the problem, and it seemed that at least all of C wasn't working, despite the green light showing.

The purser came, apologized numerous times and when I resigned myself to not having power, he said "Don't worry, we'll take care of you."

He came back with a bottle of C class Pol Roger champers wrapped up in a linen napkin and a skykit thing to fill out. He had written $50 or $75 (I forget) on the voucher below the $ off cert checkbox, and that was what I would have assumed I'd get.

I was suprised (and impressed!) when I got a $400 voucher in the mail the other day. ^ Oddly, it is only valid on domestic flights which I thought a little strange since the incident was on an International flight and my mileage summary would show mostly International travel. Whatever, I'll still find a use for it.

The other tidbit: I was talking to a UA FA about the problem (and UA's resolution) and she seemed to think UA was finally starting to get it ... we'll see.

Does this reflect others experiences? ... and does anyone know why it would be so high?
