I think there still is a reason for new numbers. Remember the DL situation a few months back - you simply could not get through to them no matter what - constantly busy.
At least with new, separate numbers - there is a chance that during a peak time - your call will be answered. The machine does not know you are super elite until it answers and you key in your onepass number.
Another option would be for CO to program (from the co.com profile) all of your phone numbers in their system - so that caller id - recognizes who is calling and will give you priority from your phone number. Again - this does not solve the busy line issue.
