I've got myself about India quite extensively, but I'll be a first-timer in Chennai next month. Limited availability for a week away with my frequent-flyer programme is the driver.

Any suggestions regarding hotels in the luxurious-but-cheap category will be welcome , as will suggestions for things to do/see, and overnight - or longer - side-trips. Pondicherry would be one option, I guess.
