Wine glasses in the original box, but I also wrapped the stems w/socks and stuffed (gently) socks in the glasses. I then wrapped the box (of 6) in a towel.

The china (4 dishes) was in it's original box (cardboard between the dishes). I just wrapped the box in a towel.

I isolated both boxes from the bottom and edges of the hardshell suitcase with clothing and or bagged air. The boxes were to thick to provide much padding between them & the sides of the suitcase.

The bottle of wine was wrapped in an item of clothing and sealed in a plastic bag. I have the feeling that the wine bottle was what made the TSA search the bag...
