Lavatory incident on Flight 1226 DEN-DTW 8/29

I've flown a lot of miles and have witnessed some unusual events in-flight, but today I saw a new one. After we had already descended below 10,000 feet an elderly (wheelchair assist) woman came forward into the F cabin to use the lavatory.

Several minutes later we were cleared for final approach and she still hadn't emerged. One of the female FAs was summoned up from the rear of the aircraft and opened the door, and apparently the woman was still seated on the toilet.

By this point we were only about 30 seconds from touchdown, and they decided that a full-throttle aborted landing would knock her down, so they told her to sit back down on the can and held the door shut.

She stayed in there until after we had come to a complete stop on the taxiway, when she was told to sit in 1C for the short roll to the gate.

Ironically the same crew was working my continuing flight to YYZ, and they said that after I deplaned she ran at the speed of light back into Y against the other deplaning passengers to retrieve her purse!

I was just happy that the flight crew remained calm, kept level heads, and didn't label it as some type of attemped terrorism.

Who needs IFE when you have this type of entertainment during a flight!
