That was definitely our impression by the time we'd been there two days, and it's been interesting to have
jtkauai confirm our opinions. That's why we were excited to find both "Certified Angus" and "Prime" beef on the menu at Keoki's and thus ate there on our last two nights.
After researching a variety of sources for the "best" places to eat, I wasn't even that impressed with such colorful local eateries as Hamura's Saimin or the little shrimp truck near our Papua condo, although I wouldn't discourage others from trying them out and there was nothing wrong with them.
It's a magical place, and we hope to return there and to enjoy dining out again, but we'll have realistic expectations.
Cheers,
