Maybe after traveling for 35 hours straight they take pity on people, but I doubt it. We went to the AAdmiral's Club and simply asked to be put on the standby list for the flight, and they did it. There was no hullabaloo. No questions asked. No one said anything about it being "not done" or "an exception". We're not elite, we just paid for a day pass for the club to use the showers.

Maybe if you go up to a random gate agent they'll tell you no.
