It's a tourist class hotel which is primarily there to cater to large budget tourist groups from Japan - the property is very dated and the room amenities and decor are pretty miserable.
It's a fair hike to the beach, but you can use the beach/pool/restaurants at any of the other 3 Sheraton Hawai'i Waikiki properties nearby and charge incidentals to your PK room.
If you're interested in budget minded no frills accomodations, this is a good deal.
Agree with every point. I walked by the PK a couple of hours ago and there was some sort of work going on, but it could have just been temporary as yesterday there was nothing going on there.
The place IS a dump, no doubt about it, but the ability to use the Surfrider's pool, etc. makes it more attractive than the other dumpy hotels that are on the Kuhio block. (i.e. not facing the beach).
