Oh I would have loved an umbrella on my QF SYD-DBO trip, DH 8, torrential rain that had everyone saturated from the walk to the terminal to board the aircraft. Even the FA got very wet when they put the stairs up and it went all over her. Overall everybody on that plane was wet and the toilet was not cleaned from an overnight stay.....
Remembering back before aerobridges were common, QF and AN used to have those bins full of umbrellas to walk to the plane with. Maybe they should keep some about for just such a situation (when the black clouds are about?
