Do you think they may begin offering these up-sells at ticketing for flights with available NC inventory? (I am assuming that they booked you in NC for that return leg LHR-IAD.)

This gives UA an advance opportunity to get extra revenue from seats that would have been upgraded via an instrument...

Not sure if that's good or bad...
