I needed to purchase two tickets using vouchers, so I stopped by SNA about 10:00 a.m. on Saturday It was busy, but not terribly so. I stood in the Elite line for about five minutes when the agent doing lobby management came by and told me that they were to busy to issue tickets and that I needed to come back at noon.

I live closer to BUR, so I drove over there later in the afternoon; about 1. Luckily, there were no flights going out, so the lobby was empty. I did, however, see a sign that said "No Ticketing When Checking in Flights" or something to that effect (in other words, when the line is long).

This is insane. Why is it my problem that they are too busy/short staffed and have a stupid website that cannot handle electronic credit vouchers? How am I supposed to know when they are doing ticketing and when they are too busy? Argh!

United customer service is truly a joke. It is no surprise that month after month the DOT rates them as having the worst airline customer service in America. To charge for ticket counter service (for services that their useless website is unable to handle) and then tell a customer that the ticket counter will only serve them whenever they feel like it is just ridiculous. An anticustomer service attitude just pervades through this company.
