International to domestic connections in terminal D at DFW has been easier for me than ORD. I can't speak for the arrival time of the NRT flight (early afternoon?) but when I've arrived around 6:30pm from LGW there has never been more than a handfull of people at the security line at the top of the escalator after re-checking bags. IIRC there are two entries to the secure area so in the unlikely event one is backed up there is another option in easy walking distance.
