I usually only encounter this at Disneyworld, or at my Disney Vacation Club. I always request a 'high floor' at those hotels, and ask again at check in.

I don't do anything different than usual in the room, however - I always use the deadbolt, etc.

I was however thinking the other day about the hotels I frequent in Munich and Salzburg, which have 'women parking' spots right by the door in the parking garage (as do other parking garages in Bavaria). I do appreciate being able to park near the door in a parking garage.
