Why would you feel the need to cancel it? It's not as if you're being charged any fees for maintaining it, and if for some reason you do fly AA in the future, it is better that you have an account so at least you earn miles, since you cannot earn miles for a flight if you're not an AAdvantage member at the time unless you sign up immediately afterwards.
